Chameleon
Design began around 1988 as the name of my freelance business. I
chose the name whilst studying Illustration and Graphic Design at
Edinburgh College of Art. The name 'Chameleon' suited the nature
of the business, with its association to colour, vision and being
adaptable to changes, but I chose the name mainly because I'm a huge
fan of the band 'The Chameleons'.
I've always loved art and enjoy
working in different mediums such as illustration, graphic design,
photography, digital imaging and painting. I sometimes even do
porcelain sculptures. Since 1996 my work has mainly been in website
design where I try to apply my artistic eye to create aesthetically
pleasing as well as functional websites.
My first website chameleon-arts.com was
launched in 1996 and 11 years later it is still going strong. Chameleon-Arts.com
is a showcase site feauturing artist's work from a wide range of
disciplines such as Painting, Illustration, Photography etc..
It is an on-line gallery and a permanent exhibition which hosts the
work of a number of professional artists who can exhibit and sell
their work on-line and/or accept commissions.
This site, chameleon-design.co.uk, features entirely
my own back-folio of work and current projects.
As well as working for a number of
clients, I have designed and manage a number of my own websites.
Edinburgh-Royamile.com was
launched in October 2005.
Then Chameleon Design was later commission to design a similar website
for The George Street Association - Edinburghgeorgestreet.co.uk was
launched in December 2006.
The-Grassmarket.com was
set up as a springboard into Edinburgh-Royalmile.com but is now a
separate site which connects seamlessly to the Royal Mile site which
in turn link to Princes-Street.com and
to Edinburghgeorgestreet.co.uk. Linking Edinburgh's Old and New Towns.
This means that everything within a large section of Edinburgh's
City Centre is accessible on-line and all businesses can partcipate
by buying low cost links directly to their own websites.
Later I was commissioned to design a similar site
for London's prestigeous Beauchamp Place in south Kensington. Most
recently I have designed a site for another Edinburgh Association,
Bruntsfield Place.
As the above sites involved taking a lot of photographs, which I
love, I recently launched EDINBURGH-PHOTOS.COM to
showcase the best of these and photos from all over Edinburgh.
All these sites will continue to grow and evolve over time and I
hope you will enjoy browsing through them and the other work shown
here.
